Middle Name

Kissing someone special for the first time is supposed to make you forget you middle name,
So when you leant in to kiss me,
I repeated my middle name in my head the entire time.
After you half-heartedly broke away and looked into my eyes expectantly,
I said “Vijay”.
“Oh, I-
I- get it, I’m sorry” you said.
My eyes spoke confusion,
Yours spoke silence.
It was after you got up and left that I realised that I blurted out my middle name, not yours.
