The Stars
She looked at the stars, disappointed to see that they were still small. She turned to her mother and asked her with her tiny voice, "Mommy? Why are the stars always so small?" Her mother looked at her and said, "Because, they are far away from us, at their home where they're supposed to be." By this point, her little self was mad at the stars for being so beautiful, yet so out of reach. Her mother laughed and tried to think of a response without hurting her naive daughter. "Look!" screeched the little girl, "A star that's closer!" She pointed to where a shooting star once passed. "It looked so pretty! I wish it would've stayed longer!" she said in a very euphoric state. "But what was it doing here instead of going home?" she asked, with curiosity filling her blue eyes. "Because it was dying honey" her mother replied, as the curiosity in her daughter eyes were slowly replaced with tears.
